  • The Saskatchewan Environmental Society

has formed a Water Issues Committee. Its early goal is for committee members to educate themselves about water issues in general. It also has a small fundraising project underway. To contact the committee call Ross Nicholson at 665-1915 or email info@environmentalsociety.ca.
  • Canadian Environmental Law Association

The Canadian Environmental Law Association (CELA) is a non-profit, public interest organization established in 1970 to use existing laws to protect the environment and to advocate environmental law reforms. It is also a free legal advisory clinic for the public and will act at hearings and in courts on behalf of citizens or citizens' groups who are otherwise unable to afford legal assistance. Its Core Program in Water Source Protection offers a collection of materials about protecting drinking water sources.
  • Council of Canadians Water Campaign

The Council is involved in a campaign to ban the bulk export of Canadian water and head off what it sees as the gradual commodification and privatization of this priceless, public resource.
  • First Nations Water Association

The FNWA was formed in Saskatchewan so that First Nations water and wastewater operators could get together at annual conferences to share and exchange ideas and the concerns related to water and wastewater. In 2000, the FNWA became a member of the Association of Boards of Certification (ABC). The primary reason for membership was to create the opportunity and access for First Nations operators to be certified based on ABC's Operator Certification Program Standards and for the FNWA to be the catalyst for this.

  • The World's Water

The World's Water is a Web site dedicated to providing up-to-date water information, data, and web connections to organizations, institutions, and individuals working on a wide range of global freshwater problems and solutions.
  • The Safe Drinking Water Foundation (SDWF)

is a registered charitable organization. Its primary purpose is to find treatment and preventative solutions to make surface and ground water safe for human consumption in rural areas of the world. Most efforts in the drinking-water field have been dedicated to large systems serving towns and cities, with few resources placed on small systems, despite the fact that these systems dominate rural areas around the world.

SDWF is independent from municipal, provincial and federal governments. It is controlled by a board of international scientists with the following mission:

"Promote safe drinking water through supporting innovative research and development; increase awareness of health concerns from consumption of poor quality water; act as a catalyst to ensure that appropriate action is taken to enable the provision of safe drinking water to rural residents."
