    The mandate of the Canadian Environmental Literacy Project (CELP) is to develop open-access curriculum materials in support of teaching environmental studies in universities, colleges, and high schools in Canada. The focus is on materials that address Canadian issues within local, regional or international contexts.

    These modular materials can be used "as is" or they may be adapted by instructors to suit their specific needs. Our goal is to offer engaging classroom lectures, calculation exercises, and activities and field-trip ideas that are informative, credible, objective, motivating, and personally relevant to students and instructors. We seek to incorporate a variety of teaching and learning styles.

    has prepared a series of educational Primers on environmental topics. The goal of the Primers is to inform Canadians about current environmental issues by setting out the scientific basis for concern, potential solutions, and the policy tools avaialbe. National/International organizations and bodies

  • Green Teacher

    Green Teacher is a non-profit organization which publishes resources to help educators, both inside and outside of schools, to promote global and environmental awareness among young people from elementary through high school. The organization's primary activity is the publication of Green Teacher, a quarterly magazine full of teaching ideas from successful "green" educators. Each issue of Green Teacher offers perspectives on the role of education in creating a sustainable future, practical cross-curricular activities for various grade levels, and reviews of the latest teaching resources.
  • Green Street

    Green Street is like a quality control organization that monitors the quality and availability of environmental education resources for classrooms in Canada. They have developed partnerships with a number of organizations who provide environmental education resources to streamline the delivery of their programs, and sponsor classes to cover the costs of the resources.   • Green Schools

    This program encourages students to be environmentally responsible and to take personal action at school and with their families. Classes undertake projects to communicate about or to enhance the environment. Classes then log their project results and report them to SEEDS. By keeping records of their achievements, schools gradually work towards 100 projects to become recognized as an environmental Green School. Some schools go on to achieve Jade status (250), Emerald status (500) and ultimately Earth School with 1,000 completed projects. There are 234 Earth Schools in Canada.
